Summer in Ireland 2003
I recently accepted an internship in Ireland for the summer of 2003. I will be living and working in Malahide, County Dublin, Ireland. Malahide is a coastal town about 9 miles north of Dublin. I will be working for an organization called CASA, which provides services to people with disabilities. I leave for Ireland on May 12, and return to the U.S. on August 15.
Random Notes About Malahide:
Malahide literally means "On the brow of the sea": the city sits on the coast of the Irish Sea (the body of water that separates Ireland from the UK).
Malahide is said to be home to a lot of young technology professionals who commute to work in Dublin's IT center.
Malahide is also home to Malahide Castle (duh), a 12th century gothic fortress that was home to the same family for 800 years.
Malahide is Ireland's yachting capital, and is the site of several regattas each year.
Malahide's official website gloats that the city was the overall winner of the recent Tidy Town Competition. Who knew?
